Intel is launching it new mainstream laptop/mobile processor the Intel Core 2 Duo T7800 on Sept. 2. The Intel Core 2 Duo T7800 will replace the Core 2 T7700 as the top of the line mobile processor for Intel’s Core 2 Processor line.
The Core 2 Duo T7800 will run at 2.6 GHz making it the fastest dual core processor for laptops out there. The Core 2 T7800 has 4 MB of L2 cache, and a FSB of 800 MHz.
Along with the release Intel will also cut prices for the rest of the Core 2 Duo family. The Core 2 Duo T7700 which presently cost $530 will be probably be cut down to $316, the Core 2 T7500 will drop from $316 to $241. The Core 2 Duo T7300 and T7100 will remain at $241 and $209 - there's no indication their prices will fall - or be culled from Intel's CPU list.
Intel will also introduce the New Celeron M 550 that will run at 2.0GHz. Celerons current line up prices will also be cut. The 1.86GHz Celeron M 540, is currently priced at $134, which will be cut on 2 September, most likely to $107. Likewise, the 1.73GHz Celeron M 530 will fall to $86, the same price as the 1.6GHz Celeron M 520.
