Intel’s Core 2 Quad E9000 series and Core 2 Duo E8000 series will be postponed till February

A disappointment for Intel shoppers this holiday season. Intel was set to release its highly anticipated Core 2 Duo E8000 series along with the high end Core 2 Quad E9000 Series on January 10th. It seems that we will have to wait a bit longer.
The Core 2 Duo E8000 series (also known as ‘Wolfdale’) will only be released in February. The Core 2 Extreme Quad E9000 series (aka ‘Yorkdale’) will be released sometime between February and March, probably more towards March. Why? Well Intel is claiming that they have a “slight processor system bus defect” with the Yorkdale Core 2 Quad E9000 series. But it seems that the real reason is money.
As we mentioned Intel has switched to 45nm fabrication and the E8000 and E9000 series are the first to come out with the new technology (which gives more computing power with less heat). On the other hand Intel has a large umber of Core 2 Quads E6000 series in stock. The E6000s series still outperforms anything AMD has to offer, so why bother with a new and better processor. Intel is waiting till after the end of holiday season sales and hopes to sell off most of there E6000 series that they have in stock. Then the market will be just right for the new CPU’s….So it seems that we will just have to wait a bit longer for the E8000 & E9000 series…
